Mae Turney is searching for the type of life and happiness she has never known but has only dreamed about. She's fortunate enough to find a great opportunity to live in an exterior apartment of a beautiful lake house in a small town in Vermont. When she realizes the apartment and scenery are not the only gorgeous appeal but the home owner, Seth Finn, is as well, she puts it all on the line for the chance at love. When she becomes comfortable and confident in her own skin and sexuality, Mae realizes that this place and this man is exactly what she came looking for. Knowing Seth and his three children are as special as they come, Mae bets the house, and prays she and her gamble are enough.

I am reading a deep, philosophical book, so I needed some fluff to lighten my mood, so I pulled this out of my TBR pile. Three of Hearts starts off okay, plot wise, but it quickly becomes evident how it all will play out. The romance and characters are VERY sweet, sort of like a Hallmark movie, which is usually not my style. Here we've got insta-love with a family involved, which made the entire thing a little unbelievable. I can't imagine having three children and immediately falling into a relationship, regardless how perfect the match may seem. But fiction is fiction, so I try not to let that shape my rating too much. The heroine was a little too like a doormat for me, rarely standing up for herself. I was happy when she finally did, but then she quickly recants. Similarly, the hero starts off very nice but when he gets angry, he's pretty nasty. That's fine, and even believable, but then he flips his switch back to being Mr. Nice Guy ridiculously fast. These reactions made me lose interest in their story. Finally, the writing style left a lot to be desired. I found the sentence structure repetitive, the writing descriptive but basic, and the editing was pretty bad throughout the book (you're vs your/ hoped vs hopped). Unfortunately, this book did nothing for me, and I won't continue the series.Product details

Three of Hearts Hamden Series Book 1 edition by W Ferraro Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A book about a relationship between a man and a woman, not teens or 20 somethings, how refreshing! I basically liked the book and enjoyed Mae and Seth's journey BUT had difficulty with some aspects of the personalities of Mae and Seth as well the relationship and especially how Mae handled things.
This book needed a lot of editing help. The story moved to fast with hardly any build up to their chemistry and why they were falling for each other. It seemed there were gaps in the story (as though text was missing in a number of places throughout the story).
While I think the book shows promise there are a lot of problems (poor editing, missing text, gaps in character development, movement from one scene to another that does not make sense such as one minute he is calling her a slut for being involved in a threesome and the next their are passionately kissing). The combination of the promise of the story coupled with all of the problems is why I rated the book at a 3. I have to say that I have difficulty with how many reviewers ignored many or all of the problems and just rated the story 4 or 5. I hope the author takes the constructive criticism to heart and avoids the same mistakes in the next books in the series.
This this got worse as it went on. Typos abound, but pushing that aside, I was having a hard time understanding the attractiveness of any of these characters.
Seth is a widower with three children; Mae is new town and a nurse and she rents the apartment that is attached to his house. Relationship ensues; steamy love scenes.
The overly written love scenes were ridiculous. At one point, the author writes "he continued his voyage to her hidden valley." WHAT?? Are we talking about ranch dressing here????
I hated how their fight was "resolved" -- he basically treats her like crap in public and kicks her out her apartment in front of all of their friends and in a bar -- and there was very little discussion between the two of them. And the closing line of the book made no sense to me.
I'm not sure I'll read the others in the series and the characters that were introduced didn't seem sufficiently interesting enough to warrant purchase of the other books. Heck, at least this one was free.
This is nothing more than a rough, "Very Rough" draft of a book, it has so many mistakes in it that I can honestly say this author could NOT have even proof read their own finished product, it really amazes me that something this NOT finished could ever get into print of any kind. Missing words, wrong words, 2 complete paragraphs the author re-did and never took the old ones out so you read one right after the other with only a minor difference. Very shoddy work!!
And for reviewers to give this book 4 and 5 stars, what were they thinking?
I am not the first to mention this in a review, I read others before getting this book and thought surely this author has read them and fixed these problems by now.. but NOPE... not fixed... this author doesn't seem to care about the quality of work they put out there, so this is the last I will ever read of W. Ferraro's work.
~ Spoilers ~
Unrealistic--- I don't know of any single dads who would jump into a relationship in front of their kids so fast...
also How many Men do you know who can get a BJob, to completion and still be hard enough to continue on and have another complete ~big O~ then 2 more before the night is over??? NONE that I know of... NONE...
Unrealistic for sure!!!! and the writing of the sex scenes was lacking badly... not hot at all.. waste of time!!!
The Bar scene was stupid... the things he said to Mae were so out of line, she should have left him for good, because he truly showed what a hot headed jerk he is right then... and he also showed her what he truly feels about her being chubby and he thinks she should be so glad he is showing her attention and having sex with her that she would keep a secret about his kid from him just so he wouldn't take away her sex.. like he is the only man on earth who would want this chubby women in his bed... oh geez... come on, this author did a good job until that bar fight, in making a women character not so perfect like in the other books, but then showed his true colors and thoughts about that with the bar fight...
Then the Car crash... to me that was nothing more than this author making sure his chubby women character had every single thing taken from her including her nice car, BEFORE she gets the man....
SO NO I do not recommend this book at all... won't be finishing the series or any other book by this author!
